1. Transfer Money Regularly - Set up regular transfers within online banking to your savings account. This could be a little or a lot daily, weekly, monthly or annually, depending on your goals and your comfort level.
   
2. Split Deposit - Have your employer direct deposit a certain amount from your paycheck each pay period and transfer it to a retirement or savings account (or both). When money is sitting in your checking account, or an account that is used for day to day spending, you are more likely to use it rather than saving it. Typically, you can set this up using your employer's direct deposit, ask your HR representative for more details.
   
3. Green ¢ents - Dieterich Bank customers can add a savings feature to their debit card, called Green ¢ents, which rounds their purchases up to the nearest whole dollar. It then places that spare change into their savings account. Your change adds up with each swipe of your debit card without you needing to pinch pennies to make ends meet. While Green ¢ents is a debit card feature that is specific to Dieterich Bank, you can ask your financial institution if they offer a round-up savings product.
